Mapping and targeting with TMS
Prof. Thomas KnöscheDone
Tammam Abboud is an associate Professor of neurosurgery at university medical center Göttingen. He received
training in neurosurgery at the university medical center Hamburg-Eppendorf, where he established intraoperative neurophysiology.
His research fields include neuro-oncology and neurophysiology. His works focused on interoperative monitoring, especially on
motor evoked potentials during surgery for brain tumors. His research group at the University Medical Center Göttingen is currently
exploring a new protocol for preoperative language mapping in patients with brain tumors.
We introduce a new protocol for preoperative speech mapping in patients with brain tumors. The condition and perturb
approach include offline and online TMS and aims to improve sensitivity and specificity of preoperative language mapping. This
approach has been tested in a prospective manner and first results are presented in a small case series.
